Yellow and Orange Rustic Handcrafted Thanksgiving Community

A Turkey Miracle!

A little over two and a half weeks before Thanksgiving we embarked on a partnership with Toronto Community Housing to host a Pop Up Thanksgiving Food Hub for a community housing complex in Willowdale.  We had 75 households that signed up and at first we had no turkeys.  With many prayers and a lot of phone calls, promises to contribute turkeys began coming in. By the day of the food bank, it felt like it was raining turkeys with 90 of them to distribute! It was a true Willowdale Turkey Miracle!  On behalf of NeighbourLink North York and the residents of 415 Willowdale Ave., we want to thank our community for the generosity that made our Thanksgiving Food Bank Pop Up a huge success!

We were able to raise over $2500 and recruited 30 volunteers to make this all happen. We are so grateful to each person who contributed.

Many thanks to all our partners and sponsors including: Aoyuan, Best Buy, Zawadi Farms, Peoples Church, Carlo's No Frills, Made T.O. Eat Bakery, Faith Church, Fennel Catering, Hope Church Toronto, Loblaws, North York Chinese Baptist, the office of MP Ali Ehsassi, reBoot Canada and so many more.

Here are some words of gratitude from one of our recipients (shared with permission):

"I am one of the happy recipients of a turkey, canned goods, fresh veggies, and a lot more, from that event yesterday. I noticed how well organized, smooth, ample food staples, kind and respectful people that you have in there to run this humble and reassuring project. First of its kind @415 Willowdale itself! The heart of where needy, but nice people live and thrive."
