Congratulations to Kerry and Jessie, our ultimate food hub mother/daughter volunteer duo, for being our Volunteers of the Month! Kerry and Jessie have been inspiring neighbours, volunteering consistently at the NeighbourLink Food Hub serving our local families in need for over 2 years! They continue to be friendly and experienced volunteers that I can depend on to offer fresh foods at the food hub while offering a pleasant client experience for our neighbours who pick up their groceries from the food hub, as well as our other community events.
Kerry and Jessie continue to host food drives to collect food donations for local food banks, including the NeighbourLink Food Hub. Their commitment to alleviating food insecurity and supporting our neighbours is truly inspirational!
We are delighted to be offering free pizza coupons to Kerry and Jessie as a small token of appreciation for their support to our team and to our community. Thank you so much to Blaze Pizza at the Yonge Sheppard Centre for sponsoring this token of appreciation!
Kerry and Jessie reflected on their volunteer experience and said, "We started volunteering at NeighbourLink after organizing a food drive during Covid and decided we also wanted to help with the actual food giving and delivery, where we found out about NeighbourLink
What drives us to volunteer is the understanding that we have both come so far from the help of others, and now we want to give back to the community and provide them with the support and love that we received.
Our favourite part of volunteering is everyone at NeighbourLink. We love everyone at NeighbourLink, from the volunteers who are always there to have a fun conversation, to all the people participating in the events, to all of the friends that we've made along the way.
The kindness and help given throughout the community brings us back to volunteering with NeighbourLink, especially all the special holiday events that are always so much fun for families to attend”
Blaze Pizza is also a part of our Nourish a Neighbour program - where neighbours can pay a meal forward to someone in need. Lately, there have been lots of interest in receiving a warm meal and there are no more free meals available at Blaze Pizza at the moment. Please support local businesses champions like Blaze Pizza Yonge/Sheppard if you are able, and visit to see how you could offer a free meal to a neighbour in need!
You're also welcome to learn more about supporting/being supported by this program and the other local restaurants supporting this program at https://www.neighbourlink.org/nourish
Another way to support our food programs is to join in on the fun at our upcoming Christmas Market at Mel Lastman Square on Saturday November 30 from 2-8 PM. All donations and hot chocolate sales will be contributing to supporting our neighbours who access NeighbourLink food programs! More info about this event at https://www.neighbourlink.org/christmas
