Help our Food Hub Continue in 2023!

I hope you're enjoying the final days of 2022! I'm Lily Su, NeighbourLink's Food Hub Coordinator. This week, I've been thinking about all the generous neighbours that donated, gave their time and came together to feed under-resourced residents at our twelve Food Hub Days this year. Thanks to your support we distributed 64,717 lbs of fresh food in 2022, to 120 families and 50 seniors on a monthly basis. That's 553 individuals impacted and lives touched! We were also able to provide non-perishables and fresh produce to over 40 North York families through our Mobile Food Support Program.

At last year's Holiday Food Hub we were able to provide turkeys, hams and pies so that our clients could enjoy a special holiday meal. This year, with the increase in food bank usage and heightened grocery prices it didn't look like that would be possible. But thanks to your outpouring of generosity and the support of local grocery stores we were able perform a Christmas miracle! Last Wednesday the families we serve took home:

• A Turkey, Chicken or Ham

• Clementines, Bananas, Spinach, Peppers, Onions and Potatoes

• Bread

• Eggs

• Milk or Dairy Alternatives

• Apple or Pumpkin Pie

• Non-Perishable Food Items

Recently, a resident shared some very kind words that they gave permission to share with you all:

“Thank you so much for the wonderful produce. God bless you and your volunteers for all your kindness. I really appreciate all you guys have done for me and my family throughout the months with the prices so high in the supermarket. No words can describe how much the food given to me and your hard work means to me.”

In 2023, I hope the 415 Food Hub will continue to expand to meet neighbours where they’re at and provide more food programs and other necessary support. We are entering the final days of our 75K End of Year Fundraiser with just over 6K left to raise before the New Year arrives! Neighbour, will you help us cross the finish line? A $50 Donation will fill a grocery cart like the one above with fresh and nutritious food to sustain a family for 1-3 weeks! Any amount will make an impact!
